Coverage and density compete for a limited resource
A larger treatment area generally spreads available grafts more widely, while concentrating grafts in a smaller area may create greater visual density there. The right balance depends on donor capacity, hair characteristics, contrast, styling goals, and the pattern of loss.
A graft number by itself does not describe how the result may look or whether the donor plan is sustainable.
Visual density is individual
Hair calibre, curl, colour contrast, length, direction, existing native hair, and scalp visibility all influence the appearance of fullness. Two patients receiving the same number of grafts can therefore have very different visual outcomes.
Plan for progressive hair loss
Existing non-transplanted hair may continue to thin. A plan should consider where future gaps could appear, what donor hair should be preserved, and whether staged treatment or non-surgical management should be discussed.
